Located within the city limits of Cluj-Napoca, the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport (CLJ) is the most important airport in the historical region of Transylvania.  In 2012 it became the second busiest airport in Romania.  Initially known as Someșeni Airport, it is located 9 km (5.6 mi) east of the city center.
