LOCKHEED HUDSON MK.5 & MK.6
The Lockheed Hudson first appeared as the Model 14 Super Electra commercial airliner in 1937. The type incorporated several innovations, using high wing-loading to increase cruising range and Fowler flaps to reduce the landing speed. The type proved well-suited to military use and was soon adapted as such. The first enemy aircraft destroyed by an American-made aircraft during WWII was achieved in a Hudson by a British aircraft. The Mk V is the most advanced version to see service, with more powerful engines and more advanced armament than previous marks. Over 400 were built, with the last 207 having increased fuel capacity for long-range missions. This example has the long-range fuselage tank installed.
