P-51 D, a single-seat low-wing aircraft, is powered by a Rolls-Royce engine built by Packard under license. For many years after the end of the Second World War, the P51 flew in a variety of roles for the United States Air Force, including in the 1950s, when the jet age began.
There were issues with the P-51 as well. An issue with vision, particularly in the rearward direction, plagued the previous version, as did a lackluster performance. With the addition of the Merlin engine and a bubble canopy, this problem was solved.
Initially deployed by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the U.S. military would go on to make extensive use of the aircraft in the closing stages of World War 2. To accompany long-range bombers for most of December 1943, the Merlin-powered Mustangs were to fly their first mission. When compared to Me-109 and Fw-190 fighters of that era, the P51-D's were a clear winner. The United States produced about 13, 000 Merlin-powered Mustangs. In the years following World War II, they were still in service, and some were even put to use as ground attack vehicles in the Korean conflict. The last time they fought was in the "Soccer War" of 1969. Now, they can be found in races and air shows around the world in a highly restored state.

Insignia information
The inclusion of Nazi insignia in products created for the purposes of entertainment is outlawed in many countries. Because this product is sold in those regions, we are unable to include historically accurate kill markings on the aircraft, nor will we be able to release a separate historically accurate package for optional download.
Should you choose to modify the files and make the requisite changes yourself, or download third-party livery modifications, you will not hold Aeroplane Heaven responsible for those actions.
